Why Does My Big Berkey Filtering So Slow? Causes And Solutions
If you have recently purchased your Burke system and the water passes through the filter very slowly or not, the problem is usually causing by excessive water tension.
Excess water pressure prevents air purification from the micro-holes in the new cleaning elements.
You need to remove this air from the pores and base your black burr elements to allow water to flow through them. Included with your Black Berkey element is a tan priming button and instructions for priming.
Please remove your elements from the unit, primer your elements, and then reinstall them on your unit. And also, it should solve the problem of slow flow rates.
If the flow rate slows down significantly during the element’s lifetime, the problem can quickly solve by refining the element.

Air Pockets
If your Burkee filter is not working before, the slow flow rate may be due to air pockets.

Fill your Berkey partially
